WORSHIP
Music plays an important role in our lives and in our worship. God is the originator of music and loves to hear songs of worship and praise.
The longest book in the Bible is the Psalms, the songbook for Israel. Some of the most moving music in history has been penned from trhe hands of men and women whose hearts were stirred to follow God.
Following the biblical pattern of Ephesians 5:19 and Colossians 3:16, our worship services include “psalms and hymns and spiritual songs,” blending older hymns with newer worship songs, psalms, and choruses that testify of the greatness, majesty, deliverance and grace of God. Some of these songs are hundreds of years old, conveying truth in song for generations. Others have been written within recent months. Each is picked to fit with the message from the Word of God, to exalt God and to express our gratefulness for the great things He has and will continue to do in our lives.
Our worship services also include special music from the Victory Kids Choir, adult choir, instrumentalists, quartets, and other groups and individuals.
The music we use in worship is music with a message: songs, hymns and choruses chosen not simply because they are enjoyable music, but because they turn the heart toward God and prepare us to hear the message from His Holy Word and His Holy Spirit.
God’s plan is for preaching His Word to be the most important part of a public worship service (Matthew 28:19-20, Acts 2:42, 1 Corinthians 1:21, 2 Timothy 3:15-4:4). His Word is our source of encouragement, inspiration, and instruction.
The Bible is exciting because its pages present God’s eternal message. You may laugh out loud or silently, reverently listen, or you may experience intense brokenness, but you cannot ignore the dynamic truth of God’s Word. It is alive and “powerful, sharper than any two-edged sword…and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart” (Hebrews 4:12).
Learn it and live it: the Word of God will transform your life!
